Ultimate Guide to Skyrocket Productivity

If you are anything like me you don’t always manage your time to the best of your abilities. Countless times you lose your focus without even realizing it. You would be far more productive spending less time working, but getting more done within that time frame.

I could spend hours taking all sorts of career, personality quizzes like this one. I found this great website and it is my favorite “time killing” activity right now. Who doesn’t want to know the best career, right? So I wanted to be more productive and have time for things I really like.

By increasing your productivity you are freeing yourself up to do more of the activities you enjoy.

No one wants to work 24/7 only to get half as much done as someone who works less than half the time. I have put together the ultimate guide to skyrocket productivity. Follow this guide and you will have more time to do the things you love.

Create the Perfect Workplace

Creating the perfect workplace is the first step in increasing your productivity. The perfect place for you to work might not be your home. Take a little time to realize what the perfect place for you to work may be. It could be your home, library, school, office, friend’s house, etc. Whatever it may be you need to figure it out. Creating the perfect workplace is vital. You will naturally feel more comfortable, relaxed, and in the mood to work.

Make your workplace how you like it. When you truly create the perfect workplace for yourself you will notice an increase in your productivity right away. From there on you will only get more and more done, because you will grow used to your surroundings. I would find the perfect workplace for me in the beginning.

Make a Schedule

Everyone could use a schedule to help with organization. If you really hope to make the most of your time making a schedule is the way to go. A schedule will help keep you on track. There is something about having a visual list of task to do that makes your work ethics much stronger. Whenever you have your tasks down on paper you know exactly what needs to be done. Many times I’d forget the little things I planned to get done. No one can always remember every last thing.

The more successful you become more is expected of you. You will have more tasks to get done, and the only way to make sure you get it all done is by making a schedule. It will be extremely hard for you not to forget things without having them down somewhere. If you ask any successful person they will tell you that they follow a schedule of some sort. I promise you won’t find one that tells you otherwise. In any sense, having a schedule will make you more professional. The goal of any business is to look professional like an expert in your field.

When increasing your productivity you have to know what is most important, and knowing yourself and understanding your personality is a big plus. If you still don’t know it, just take a simple quiz, there are 6 career types and it’s good to know what’s yours. When you have many tasks you need to get finished, it is always best tackling the most important first. Prioritize your work from most important to least. That way you know exactly what you need to tackle first. You will never get mixed up if you make priority levels for each of your tasks.

If you don’t get everything done you planned at least you will have tackled the most important. Many people fail to find the value in prioritized work ethics. If you give it a chance you will notice greater benefits from the time you spend working.

Eliminate Distractions

In your everyday life there are countless distractions. More times than none you won’t even know when you’re distracted. It is extremely easy to get distracted, and as time goes on it will only get harder to stay focused. The key to staying focused is by eliminating your distractions. The things you enjoy most are usually your biggest distractions. If you eliminate them you won’t have them around to distract you. The sooner you eliminate those distractions the faster your productivity will increase.

For many, social networking is a major distraction. It’s hard not wanting to check them every 10 minutes, or tweet every other second. You have to recognize when something is purely wasting your time. Another major distraction is text messaging. It’s hard not to text that pretty girl back. There are a multitude of distractions. The simplest way to eliminate these two distractions would be turning your phone off and staying off the internet. Remember to keep your priorities in check.

Set a Timer

A great way to make sure you’re not spending too much time on any one thing is setting a timer. Time limits keep you on track, so the other areas of your work won’t slack. All areas of your work will increase in productivity. The task you know require more work and effort you should set a longer time limit. By having a specific time frame you are less likely to waste time.

Wasting time will have the strongest negative impact on your productivity. A big problem I had was forgetting about time. Setting individual time limits solved that quick. Time tends to fly by, so you don’t want to lose track of it. As more work develops you will learn how important setting time limits will be on your overall success.

Start Already!

Procrastination is the biggest problem most people have. The best way to beat procrastination is to just dive right in. You waist a lot of time putting off tasks you don’t feel like doing. Most times when you get started you get in a grove and you keep going. Overcome a huge obstacle and start already! You will teach your mind not to hesitate from the boring work. All it takes to beat procrastination is practice. The more you practice diving right into your work, the more natural it will become.

When you don’t hesitate to start your tasks sometimes you make mistakes. Making mistakes is perfectly okay. Everyone has made mistakes no matter how successful you may be. Life is all about learning from the mistakes you make. Having a positive outlook on life, and positive things will happen to you. Always look for the good in the bad, because there is always good to be found.

Don’t Multitask

Extensive research has been down and multitasking has been proven to slow your productivity down. Do not be ignorant by blowing these words over. If you try to take on 2 to 3 task at the same time it will slow you down.

Your brain isn’t giving anyone task 100%. Focus on one task at a time and you will be far more productive. It is very easy to lose focus multitasking. When you handle a lot of things at the same chance it is a high chance you will forget other important tasks. Put your full focus on a task, then move on to the next.

This is where your schedule comes into play. Overall when I focus on one task at a time I get much more completed than trying to focus on many. I want to a sure you multitasking isn’t the way to increase your productivity. You will only be hurting yourself the quality of your work in the end.

Stay Off Social Networks

I can speak from personal experience social networks are a huge waste of time in many cases. I’m not saying you should never use one, because in today’s business they are a vital part of any business. Social networks are designed to hook you keeping you on them as long as possible. After every 10 minutes that pass by, if you’re checking your account that turns into a problem.

Most people never realize they spend way too much time on the networks wasting time they can never get back. You must set a time let for your social networks, because it’s way too easy to get addicted. Social networks are the new online drug. I’m here to tell let you know you don’t have to spend that much time on them to get the maximum benefit. The key is to use them in the right way. Only after that will you be able to receive the full benefit.

Organization plays a major role in increasing your productivity. If you are organized you will naturally be a productive person. It will take you less time to find things you need. You won’t feel suffocated within your workplace. Un-organization breads many problems you don’t need in your life.

All the most productive people are well organized. Being an organized person even increases your spirits! I know what sounded weird, but it’s true. Start by making sure your workplace is well organized. This is one of those things that will help more than just your productivity. The truth is, organization should be one of the first steps in increasing productivity.

Get In the Right Mindset

The mindset you have means everything. If your mind is way off in wonderland your work ethics will be nowhere they should and could be. Focus, focus, and focus because, you have to always keep your mind on track. Get in the habit of keeping your mind focused on the goal. Stay in your own world, and never switch lanes. Be determined not to let yourself get distracted by keeping your goals on your mind.

You will never be able to give 100% distracted mentally. Getting in the right mindset is a huge step in increasing your productivity. If I plan on writing for an hour, I push as hard as possible to keep my mind focused on writing for that hour. Master the mindset you have and you will be one step ahead of the competition.

Take Little Breaks

When increasing your productivity the last thing you want to do is work yourself until the point you slow down from exhaustion. Add little breaks into your daily schedule. It could be to get up take a breather and stretch. Whatever it is, it’s important you have little breaks. When you take a break it will give your brain time to rest.

Ever since I was in elementary school my teacher always found importance in taking small breaks. It has been proven to boost your productivity, because it gives you a little while to recharge. Taking a break helps you to re-focus if you started slipping off track. You will notice a positive difference in your productivity with a little break. You will be able to sustain the high level of work for much longer.

Give Your Rewards

It doesn’t matter who you are, everyone loves a reward. Why not reward yourself for working hard? Giving yourself rewards will boost your motivation to complete the tasks. No one is going to do the work for you, so you have to do everything possible to help yourself out. A good priceless reward might be taking a nap, watching TV, or buying you a gift. All of these would be great rewards to boost your motivation to get the job done. Any reward is better than no reward at all, because it gives you something to look forward too. There is nothing like a good reward after a hard day’s work.

Combat Loneliness

You have to learn how to stay focused all by yourself. Although it’s always nice to have someone there to help keep you motivated but, that won’t always be the case. Learning to rely on yourself is a priority for those lonely days when it’s just you and your work. When the urge to get off task starts knocking at your door you have to fight, fight, and fight until you can’t anymore.

The productivity level you have will be on its way to the highest point the day you learn to be alone. Build your focus, so loneliness will never get you off track. The strong can work all by their selves because; they have developed a strong inner drive.

There are always ways you can increase your productivity. It will be a never-ending journey finding different ways to enhance your productivity. If you follow this advice your productivity will increase no questions asked. The amount of work you get done will even shock yourself along with everybody else. Time is money, don’t waist another second. Start increasing your productivity today!

And this is what my hubby says:

“The secret to increasing your productivity is FOCUS- focus on what you want to do at the moment and make sure you do nothing else until it is completed. Make sure you avoid all distractions, completely!”

“From my own perspective, someone can increase his or her own productivity by:

Staying Updated:

When I say staying updated, I mean reading books. Reading books will open up your productivity so as to get one or more ideas you can look into in other to bring out valuable things from the idea. And by so doing, you are boosting your productivity.

Planning Your Next Day:

You can become more productive, by having a to-do list. I mean, planning the important things you want to accomplish the next day. Write down the things you would love to accomplish the next day, write them down that night, so that when you wake up the next morning, it will be easier for you to carry out those things.

Staying Focused:

When you focus on the important things and get rid of things that are not important to you, you will stay productive. No matter the condition, you will surely stay productive by focusing on things that are important in your life.

Art of Delegation:

You can boost your productivity, by delegating the task you are not capable of carrying out to someone else who can do it, so that you can focus on the task you are capable of doing.

You can increase your productivity by relaxing your body. After the hectic day job, try to relax your body so that the brain can function properly. Being relaxed is a great way to increase your productivity.”
